About your GoTo Expert
A tutoring approach tailored to each student’s needs.
Vidya Askoolum
BA (Hons) Psychology and Criminology, PGCE Tutor
Academically, I work with students across the UK, helping them to progress with confidence through the curriculum from the age of seven all the way to A-levels.
In every case, the approach we take will be tailored to their needs. Our purpose is to build their confidence, widen their social circle, and stretch their abilities.
As a mother of 3 children, twins and a younger brother, I teach in a way that I would like my own children to be taught in an empathetic, understanding way. Not all children are the same and every student can pose different challenges, adapting to those challenges to get the most from my students calls on my wealth of experience.
We continued to provide support remotely during coronavirus restrictions because we know that learning is not about a building but about professionals who work together to achieve the best outcomes. In fact, it has provided concrete proof that this style of tutoring works very well and allows students to learn in an environment where they feel safe and at their most confident.
Our Virtual School experience has demonstrated how technology can be effectively used to complement mainstream schoolwork. Students can work in groups or, where it will be beneficial to them, we can work on a one-to-one basis, or we can combine the two approaches.
We provide tailored educational support for:
Examination preparation using examination board techniques
Strategies for people with learning deficits, such as dyspraxia, dyslexia and autism
Teaching English as a second Language (ESOL)
Educational challenges for students who need extra help to realise their full potential.
Support for students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, including emotional behavioural disorder (EBD), with or without an education, health and care (EHC) plan
I also have experience working with Virtual School, Inclusions and SEND Teams at various County Councils

“Vied has a natural way with people of all walks of life, her firm but gentle way means she always gets the best from her students.”
“Vidya is absolutely amazing – I couldn’t recommend her any more highly. From our first meeting she understood our requirements and concerns regarding our daughters learning and with her psychology background was able to pick up on her anxieties. Our daughter warmed to V straight away and through the lessons has opened up with her self confidence and belief making strides that isn’t just noticed by us as parents but also by her teachers at school. The lessons are focused on our daughters needs moving at her speed and always fun so our daughter looks forward to each and every lesson.”
