About your GoTo Expert

Hello! Are you seeking some extra help and support for your child’s study of Maths? I am an experienced teacher and private tutor (since 2002 with a full Enhanced DBS certificate) working with home-educated and school-educated students around Northampton and Milton Keynes and beyond, for online Maths sessions, via Zoom. I use an IT system, including a shared whiteboard and document camera, that means I can work collaboratively with my students on all areas of Maths.

I provide one to one or small group Maths tuition, tailored to the individual needs of my students, on an online basis. During my teaching career, I have developed experience of working with both home-educated and school-educated students, including those with additional learning needs. I am also trained in High Performance Learning through my work in a school focused on HPL for all students. Sessions can be delivered to develop numerical understanding and fluency, to boost the confidence of students and to support preparation for school assessments and GCSE exams.

I also have experience of teaching Functional Maths and Maths at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 to give students the best possible start and support with their mathematical knowledge and understanding. Thank you for visiting my listing! Please feel free to contact me, via my Facebook page, to discuss the online Maths tuition you might be looking for to support your child from the comfort of your own home.

Reviews in association with Facebook & Google

EB – “I’m so pleased that Helen has gotten around to creating a Facebook page for her tutoring services. I’ve known Helen for many years and there’s nobody I’d be more happy to write a review about than her. Helen is the most positive and encouraging human being you’ll come across which I find to be a most important trait when tutoring kids and adults alike. Helen has a way of explaining the trickiest topics in a manner that makes it easy to understand. I have in the past recommended her to many friends (and strangers who were looking for Maths tutor on here).

Helen is able to differentiate her approach with ease and makes her sessions suitable for any age and ability. The only negative is that because she’s so awesome she tends to book up pretty quickly. But she is definitely worth the wait!”

NO – “Helen has helped my son through his GCSE, pushed him to achieve a better grade and was informative and stern when needed! It’s a tough couple of years and without Helen he definitely would not have passed let alone done higher maths. Can’t recommend her enough.”

JB – “Helen has been a wonderfully encouraging maths GCSE tutor to my daughter who was suffering with anxiety and low confidence. Helen is very well qualified and a pleasure to know!”

KS – “Helen has really supported my daughter with maths. Helen is so supportive and patient. My daughters confidence has increased so much. I would recommend Helen as a tutor, she is amazing!”

KH – “Both my children have been taught by Helen. I would highly recommend her. She has a wealth of knowledge and a great understanding of each child s strengths and where they need extra guidance and coaching, she supports them through her fantastic teaching skills  Thank you Helen”

CB – “Helen is a wonderful find for us, she is currently guiding my son through his GCSE maths in preparation for next years exams. Since working with Helen and he has gone from being worried, having feelings of anxiety and not being good enough at maths to feeling confident and strong in the subject. He is now studying higher maths.

Helen was able to see his potential and enthusiasm for learning and help him understand the problems and how solve them. We are so grateful to have found Helen she is a natural teacher and my son absolutely loves his sessions.
Five stars from us!”

KJ – “Helen is very understanding and takes an interest in you. And she is very easy to go with what you like and sometimes gives you something hard but she’s ok if you can’t do it. She helps you through and she makes you understand what it is. She is a really good teacher and I like her a lot, she is very fun. Megan (10)

Megan is homeschooled and started with weekly maths sessions with Helen when she was 9. She’s now also doing weekly science lessons too. Megan’s favourite subject is not maths and Helen is very good at keeping her interested with different approaches. She also works along with Megan’s preferred choice in maths topics and diverges (after checking with me) from the curriculum, which I guess is the privilege we have as homeschoolers ? Helen is always punctual and very well organised. NS – “Helen has been a major part of both my sons Maths journey from Year 7, all the way to GCSE (and now bridging the road beyond). She is excellent in utilising her unique skills to encourage and bring out the best from them. My two sons are completely different, but both looked forward to their sessions with her. Helen has exceptional ways of identifying problems, challenging, and giving confidence to her students. She recognises every student has different needs and really does identify and bespoke teach each student individually.

We were also lucky to have Helen tutor one son in GCSE Finance which without her, just would have been a disaster. From classroom lessons alone, the enthusiasm, interest and understanding was just non existent, but with her guidance, it came together. A natural teacher with passion who goes over and beyond. Five stars without a doubt.”

SC – “I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Helen. All three of my children have, in turn, benefited from her amazing support and expert teaching as they have worked towards their GCSEs over the last 6/7 years. Her encouragement and enthusiasm with each of my children (despite their different needs and abilities) has been fantastic. Plus I feel her interest in how they are coping from week to week at school really supports their education as a whole and has in the past (and continues to with my youngest) allowed them to achieve their fullest potential in Maths.”
