About your GoTo Expert

I am a compassionate and empathic female Psychotherapist who provides a relaxed, human, and real approach to improving your mental wellbeing and supporting you in reaching your personal goals. Accredited in both CBT (BABCP) and EMDR (EMDRUK) I employ an integrative, compassion focused, trauma and attachment informed approach in my sessions. My clients appreciate my warm, empathic, and non-judgemental manner, which helps build a trusting therapeutic relationship and is key to effective therapy. with a passion for supporting clients to heal from past traumas and actualising their own personal goals.

What is EMDR?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is a unique, powerful therapy that helps people recover from problems triggered by traumatic events in their lives. It stops difficult memories causing so much distress by helping the brain to reprocess them properly, working with memory to heal the legacy of past pain.

When a person’s mental health problems have their roots in a distressing life event, EMDR can be very effective very quickly.

Taking the first step into therapy can be daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to answer any questions you may have and see if I’m the right therapist for you. No matter what you’re going through, I can provide you with the time and space to explore your experiences and work towards the future you deserve.

What is CBT?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT, is a family of talking therapies, all based on the idea that thoughts, feelings, what we do, and how our bodies feel, are all connected. If we change one of these we can alter all the others.

When we’re low or upset, we often fall into patterns of thinking and responding which can worsen how we feel. CBT works to help us notice and change problematic thinking styles or behaviour patterns so we can feel better.

CBT is a collaborative therapy – it’s not something that is done to someone, it’s a way of working together with a CBT therapist on mutually agreed goals.

What can CBT help with?

CBT works for lots of different people and problems and is widely recommended by national treatment guidelines across the UK, EU, and North America.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) provides independent, evidence-based guidance for the NHS on the most effective, proven treatments. CBT is recommended in NICE guidelines for many different problems, including:
– anxiety disorders (including panic attacks)
– depression
– obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
– post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
– psychosis and schizophrenia
– bipolar disorder
– eating disorders
– tinnitus
– insomnia

There is also good evidence that CBT is helpful in helping people cope with the symptoms of many other conditions, including:
– chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
– irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
– fibromyalgia
– chronic pain
